Sure! When I was around 8 years old or so, I made the connection that the meat on my dinner plate came from animals whom I love and consider my friends, and so I became a vegetarian. Unfortunately, I didn't make the bigger connection that the dairy and egg industries are just as horrifying (worse, actually) as the meat industry until I was in my early 30's. At that point I became a vegan and I will never go back. "If we could live happy and healthy lives without harming others... why wouldn't we?" one of my favorite quotes from Edgar's Mission This video by Gary Yourofsky remains one of my favorite videos to help understand the reason for being vegan.

I use watercolor and acrylic paint, and I paint on wood and paper. I have a very layered approach to my work and build texture and interest into each layer. I use my dremel to scratch into sublayers. I do not really draw anything other than doodles. Instead, to start a painting, I just begin with the paint itself and let whatever is going to happen just unfold as I go along. This is one of the reasons I do not accept commissions, it simply doesn't work for me given my process. I also greatly enjoy working digitally to manipulate and rearrange my original watercolor paintings to create imaginative and surreal scenes.

Aside from painting, I also love reading, gardening, listening to music & podcasts, going to thrift stores, snuggling with my cats...we have five, and cooking with my husband.
